Where all does the Big Mic travel to?

The Big Mic is currently active in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Delhi.

When is the next Big Mic event coming up?

All our events for the next month come up in the last week of the current month that you are in. Notifications of the events will come to you via email, so please adjust your settings to make sure it does not land into your spam folder!

How long a slot do I get?

We keep a time limit of:

  • 4 minutes for comedy
  • 5 minutes for poetry
  • 10 minutes or two songs for music
  • 5 minutes for rap
  • 5 minutes for magic
  • 10 to 20 minutes for cinema (a little longer if needed)







Do I need to be up for the entire duration of the time slot provided to me?

Well it is great if you could be there for the entire duration of the time slot given to you. Also, if creates a good impression if you finish your material on time. But that said, it is not compulsory for you to continue performing if you are done performing before your slot timings expire.

What happens if I exceed my time slot?

We like to give all our performers some breathing room rather than just rush through the event. The timings allotted to you per category has been proven to be enough to do a tight set and get feedback from the audience. In case you exceed the time allotted to you, we give you a little concession if needed or just cut off the mic feed if it’s just unnecessary.

How does one register for the Big Mic?

There is an awesome register tab on our website which you can also reach here. You can register as a Performer, a Host or the super cool Audience. Tap, tap choose an ultra-cool username, select the categories you are interested in and hit the Register button. Yes, its that simple.

How does one participate for an event?

When we put up an event all performers in that category of event get notified by e-mail of the event, so please give us an e-mail id that you check frequently. We also do more than one open mic per category and will make sure you have a performance slot in the next event case the current event is full up. As the audience or a host, we also send you an e-mail whenever we put up an event in a category you’ve selected at the time of registration. Then we meet and hug when we see you at the venue.

What time should I turn up at the venue?

Ideally, it helps if you turn up at least an hour before the event is set to begin. Just gives everyone ample time to set up and also helps us to make sure we begin and finish the event on time.

What is the deadline for registrations?

We close slots for each Big Mic at 20 participants per event. Participation is on a first come first serve basis. The deadline for registration is a week before the event date or when all open slots fill up, whichever is earlier.

What if I register online but am unable to show up for the event?

We are aware that registering for an event does not always guarantee that you would turn up for it, so we also give you a quick call to ensure that you will make it to the Big Mic on time! We take our performers very seriously so if for some reason you cannot make it for a performance, your name gets pushed down in the list and we let the next person who has registered to take your place instead.

I am a musician, can I play covers?

Well, Big Mic is a platform for original content and we encourage you to come up with your own material. Keeping that in mind, we do not allow nor encourage covers as it is not fair to someone else with original content who would otherwise miss out on a chance to participate. So please desist from playing covers.
